History

Marshall Mayotte got the idea to start Mayotte Management Group ("MMG") in 2004 while he was providing research on social enterprises for UCLA's Graduate School of Education and Information Studies. He found that social enterprises and businesses rely heavily on financial professional without a broad business background. Most of these businesses failed because of poor cash planning, unrealistic expectations, and/or inadequate reserves. The goal of the Firm was to provide financial management to businesses and its owners in order to maximize their wealth over the long-run. 

In the beginning, Marshall found his clients by targeting businesses located in the California Enterprise Zone ("EZ"). The reason he chose the EZ is that it is a great wealth maximizing tool, and he is already an expert in the program. He first helped businesses with these tax credits, while at KPMG, in 1996. In 1999, he even helped create one of the largest tax credits companies in California.

Though the Firm still provides Enterprize Zone tax credit assistance, its focus has changed to financial management. The reason is that Marshall found that many businesses and individuals rely on accountants, bookkeepers and controllers to provide them financial information that has already happened instead of hiring professionals that analyze companies/individuals in order to meet their financial goals and maximize their wealth.
